Our Story
Built from
necessity.
Asteya Ayurceuticals did not begin with a market gap analysis or a brand positioning exercise. It began with a woman standing in front of a mirror, not recognising herself, and refusing to accept that this was permanent.
The Founder's Story
There is a version of yourself you remember clearly.
She had good skin. Great hair. She moved through the world with the kind of quiet confidence that comes not from vanity, but from feeling at home in your own body.
Then something profound happened. You had a baby, maybe two. Or you crossed into perimenopause, quietly at first, then all at once. And you lost the version of yourself that you remember clearly.
For Raashi Gounden, the founder of Asteya Ayurceuticals, that moment of recognition was not dramatic. It was quiet. Two pregnancies. Forty-five kilos gained. Periorial melasma spreading across her face, the kind of stubborn, hormonal pigmentation that laughs at drugstore brighteners. A hairline that grew wider with every wash. A diagnosis: female pattern hair loss. Not temporary shedding. Genetic. And underneath all of it, undiagnosed insulin resistance quietly reshaping everything.
"I stepped into this new version of myself with confidence but I knew, I had to do something to restore the external markers of a self I had spent decades building."
So she did what any determined woman does: she tried everything. Pico laser at $1,500 a session. Tretinoin and hydroquinone... but her skin burned and peeled and could not tolerate the clinical doses. She waited through pregnancy and breastfeeding to even be eligible for certain treatments. She tried every brightening serum on the market and oral medication for her hair. She soon found what every serious sufferer finds... they were made for general conditions. The melasma was hormonal, deep-set, melanogenesis driven pigmentation. The hair loss was driven by postpartum hormones and losing the genetic lottery. They were not made for her specific problem.
Nothing worked. Not because she hadn't tried hard enough. Because the products simply did not exist.
So she created them herself.
Raashi trained as a professional skincare formulator. She studied the science of melanogenesis (the biological pathway through which melanin is overproduced) and mapped every stage at which pigmentation could be visibly addressed. She studied the hair growth cycle in clinical detail. And then she did something no mass-market brand had done with the rigour she applied: she combined Ayurvedic botanical intelligence with clinically validated modern actives, calibrated every percentage, and tested the results on herself.
The melasma faded. The hair grew back.
Two products were born. A pigmentation cream and a hair growth system... and a brand built for women in hormonal transition that deserve clinical-grade solutions, not gentle compromises.
"Asteya Ayurceuticals restores what is already yours."
The Asteya Ayurceuticals Philosophy
Four pillars. One commitment.
Ayurceutical Science
We do not choose between ancient wisdom and modern science. We use both. Ayurveda understood the intelligence of plants and the importance of constitutional balance millennia before clinical trials existed. Modern cosmetic science understands bioavailability, cellular pathways, and ingredient synergy with precision Ayurveda alone cannot achieve. Asteya Ayurceuticals formulas are built at the intersection — where Amla meets Hexylresorcinol, where Gotu Kola meets Caffeine, where tradition is validated by science and science is grounded by tradition.
Hormonal Specificity
Every Asteya Ayurceuticals product is formulated for a specific hormonal context. We are not a general skincare brand. We are a specialist in the skin and hair consequences of hormonal transition — postpartum, perimenopausal, menopausal. We understand what is happening inside your body because our founder lived it. We formulate for the source, not just the surface.
Pregnancy & Breastfeeding Safety
Our pigmentation cream was formulated explicitly to be pregnancy-safe — a deliberate act of inclusion. The women who most urgently need to address melasma are often the women who are least able to access conventional treatments. Asteya Ayurceuticals closes that gap. Not as an afterthought. As a founding commitment.
Earned Efficacy
These formulas exist because nothing else worked. That is not a marketing claim — it is the literal origin of the brand. Every ingredient, every percentage, every phase of the formula is the result of a trained formulator solving her own unsolvable problem. Efficacy is not our selling point. It is our reason for existing.
